REVIEW: I Am Number Four (#1) - Pittacus Lore

Title: I Am Number Four (#1)
Author: Pittacus Lore
Series: The Lorien Legacies
Publisher: Penguin
Format: Paperback
Pages: 391 Pages
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Goodreads Blurb

In the beginning, they were a group of nine. Nine aliens who left their home planet of Lorien when it fell under attack by the evil Mogadorian. Nine aliens who scattered on Earth. Nine aliens who look like ordinary teenagers living ordinary lives, but who have extraordinary, paranormal skills. Nine aliens who might be sitting next to you now. The Nine had to separate and go into hiding.

The Mogadorian caught Number One in Malaysia, Number Two in England, and Number Three in Kenya. All of them were killed. John Smith, of Paradise, Ohio, is Number Four. He knows that he is next.

Thoughts

I picked this up originally when the film was coming out as the film looked really good (which it is), so I grabbed the book (any book lover will tell you, they will read the book before they see the film).

The book is about John, who isn't from Earth but is one of 9 children that escaped their home planet due to an invasion to reside on Earth. They are followed by the Mogadorian's who can only kill the kids in numbered order, and John is Number Four.

I loved this book, I found the writing to just flow so well that I wasn't getting mixed up with all the characters and what was happening.

I found myself loving the friendship between John and Sam, I just found this to be such a pure friendship even though there is a multitude of differences between them, they still have this great friendship.
I found myself loving Henri as a character, and through the book, he is such a great father figure to John, and by the end, if you're not in tears with this character I would be seriously worried.

Overall a great start to the series, and watch out for my review on The Power of Six, the sequel to the series, coming soon.
