Feyre's survival rests upon her ability to hunt and kill – the forest where she lives is a cold, bleak place in the long winter months. So when she spots a deer in the forest being pursued by a wolf, she cannot resist fighting it for the flesh. But to do so, she must kill the predator and killing something so precious comes at a price ...Dragged to a magical kingdom for the murder of a faerie, Feyre discovers that her captor, his face obscured by a jewelled mask, is hiding far more than his piercing green eyes would suggest. Feyre's presence at the court is closely guarded, and as she begins to learn why, her feelings for him turn from hostility to passion and the faerie lands become an even more dangerous place. Feyre must fight to break an ancient curse, or she will lose him forever.
Thoughts
What caught my eye with this book is that it is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, I wouldn't call it a proper retelling but it has some elements of Beauty and the Beast.I really enjoyed this story, and loved the characters especially Feyre, I found her to be a strong female character who is not one to shy away from anything.
I found the premise of the story very good, especially with the added elements of Beauty and the Beast (which were easily spotted).
I will admit near the end of the book, the scenes can become quite brutal, there are scenes of torture, which I found not upsetting but the story behind it became quite upsetting.
What did get me with the book wasn't anything to do with the story but the type it was so small that you really have to concentrate on it (when reading at night this is completely impossible).
Overall a great story, which flowed really well, with some great characters, and yes I have read the rest of the series so far (so watch out for their reviews in the future)
