Goodreads Blurb

After a brutal nuclear war, the United States was left decimated. A small group of survivors eventually banded together, but only after more conflict over which family would govern the new nation. The Westfalls lost. Fifty years later, peace and control are maintained by marrying the daughters of the losing side to the sons of the winning group in a yearly ritual.

This year, it is my turn.

My name is Ivy Westfall, and my mission is simple: to kill the president’s son—my soon-to-be husband—and restore the Westfall family to power.

But Bishop Lattimer is either a very skilled actor or he’s not the cruel, heartless boy my family warned me to expect. He might even be the one person in this world who truly understands me. But there is no escape from my fate. I am the only one who can restore the Westfall legacy.

Because Bishop must die. And I must be the one to kill him…

Thoughts

The story revolves around Ivy, who's family (the Westfall's were founders of their settlement Westfall). The Westfall's founded Westfall, but leadership was taken by another family, the Lattimer's.
The young men and women of Westfall are put into arranged marriages between each other, and Ivy is to marry President Lattimer's son Bishop.

I found this story was very different from a lot of dystopian YA out there as you have the arranged marriages added to the story.
I found that the story was well written, and the writing just flowed really well and was so easy to follow.
I found the ending to be such a cliffhanger and I really need to know what happens next to Ivy, as well as Bishop.

I loved the relationship between Ivy and Bishop and just found they worked so well together, they both wanted the same thing for Westfall but were stuck by the rules of their society.

I found myself really despising Callie, and Ivy's father, they say they care for Ivy but through the story they are just using her for their own purposes.

Overall a really good story if you are looking for something different with your dystopian. I will be reading the sequel, because after that ending I need to know what happens to Ivy next.
