What if all the crushes you ever had found out how you felt about them… all at once?

Sixteen-year-old Lara Jean Song keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her. They aren’t love letters that anyone else wrote for her; these are ones she’s written. One for every boy she’s ever loved—five in all. When she writes, she pours out her heart and soul and says all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly, Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control.

Thoughts

I will admit I had heard of this book but did not really give it much thought, and I am ashamed to admit I didn't think about picking it up until I heard about the Netflix movie (I know I need someone ringing a bell behind me shouting SHAME!, SHAME! - seriously I do)

The story focuses on Lara Jean, an American-Asian girl who lives with her two sisters and her father. When she has a crush on someone that becomes so deep she writes them a love letter that she keeps in a hatbox her mother gave her, the letters she does not intend to send get sent and everything evolves from there.

SPOILERS

What was I thinking not reading this sooner, this book was absolutely fantastic and Lara Jean is my girl, and I just loved the relationship between Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky.

There was so much about this book to love it is hard to describe the best bits as there are just so many.
The relationship between Lara Jean and her sisters is just so special and even though they have their problems with each other they can still forgive each other.

Overall I loved this story (and I did end up binge-reading the series, so watch out for the rest of the books on the blog). and this is such a light read so if you just want to read something that will brighten up your day, this is the book for you.
