Ross has no choice but to start his life anew.

Thoughts

As you can gather I did want to read these books because of the BBC One series (I'm a fickle woman, I know), but I am glad I did start to read this book.

With the TV show you only get so much, but with the book you get a lot more information about the world that Winston Graham is trying to create.

I love Ross and Demelza, but for different reasons, with Ross he's that tall, dark, and handsome man who's all broody. Demelza I just found to be such a great character and I loved the budding relationship between her and Ross.

I will admit that the love triangle between Ross, Demelza, and Elizabeth is just pointless, I always wanted Ross with Demelza, after everything he has seen during the war, Demelza is the only one I thought that could handle him and wouldn't take any of his crap.

I found the book easy to follow, even for one that is set during the late 1700's, and found that the writing just flowed so easily.

Overall a great start to the series, and I have already read Demelza (so watch out for that review coming soon)
