Goodreads Blurb
The summer of 1943, World War II. With heavy memories of combat, Frangie, Rainy, Rio, and the rest of the American army are moving on to their next target: the Italian island of Sicily.

The women won’t conquer Italy alone. They are not heroes for fighting alongside their brothers—they are soldiers. But Frangie, Rainy, Rio, and the millions of brave females fighting for their country have become a symbol in the fight for equality. They will brave terrible conditions in an endless siege; they will fight to find themselves on the front lines of WWII; and they will come face-to-face with the brutality of war until they win or die

Thoughts

This is a follow on to Front Lines, so beware if you haven't read that here be spoilers!

The book follows where Front Lines left of with Rainy, Rio, and Frangie carrying on with the war effort. Rainy is sent to talk to the mob (due to her father's links), Rio is of to Sicily, and so is Frangie.

What can I say about this book except that I loved it, the writing style is fantastic, and it just flows so easily. We still have different perspectives for each chapter, depending on the above characters. I find that with the multiple perspectives the stories are just so easy to pick back up with them when you get to their next chapter.

With the last book there were hints that there was something that might happen between Rio and Jack, in this book, nothing more is mentioned until later but it again is just hinted at by Jack himself. We see more of Rio and Strand's relationship moving on but I do find myself leaning more towards wanting Rio to end up with Jack.

I love the three main characters and then some of the supporting characters are fantastic as well so it does become hard to choose, but if I had to I would choose Rio.

Overall a great sequel to Front Lines, and I really can't wait to read Purple Hearts.
